The source of morality is the opinion of one or many regarding what action(s) is most beneficial to one and/or many.

Simply put, human morality is decided by humans.

The problem is in people believing that morality must be dictated by sentimentality, or else we'd all become Hitlers.

It is from sentimental fear that the fantasy of demons and gods emerge. Well, that and probably a few ancient schizophrenic fellows who thought they were talking to God. Then, to double down on their insanity, they give these Gods the licence to guide them into wars.

Instead, why not go by simple philosophical principles, like the Golden Rule?

Dobie, the difference is that it's clear good and evil exist, where as your godly delusion is just that. It requires faith, that is the belief in something for which there is no evidence. How does a god follower explain evil in a world created by a supposedly perfect being? I'd suggest that god stuffed up was it to exist.

Christianity preaches peace, love and forgiveness but the god of the bible does not exemplify those qualities and most Christians fail to live up to their own moral code and standard of morality.
Similarly, the state has a legal code that prohibits fraud, theft and murder but the state lies, steals and kills.
The church and the state use aggression, indoctrination, propaganda, fear and guilt to obtain obedience, maintain power, and extort wealth.
Theists, churchists and statists should consider the inconsistencies, double standards and crimes of their god, religion, and government.
